The Quillhaven Tapes: 1x1

Return to Sender

A woman who restores old recordings for a living gets a cassette in the mail with her own handwriting on it, from an island she has never visited. The voice on it is hers, at seventeen, begging: Don’t let them ring the bell. Nora Vale takes the ferry to Quillhaven, where the lighthouse keeper seems to have been expecting her, the constable goes white at a voice on the tape, and the mayor announces the old light comes down on Sunday, right after the bell is rung.
